A change in postal regulations in 1902, allowing publishers to use the whole of one side for a picture, sparked a picture-postcard craze. Apart from the appeal of the quaint style of Edwardian postcards, all sorts of fascinating insights into recent local history can be derived from careful study of these and other images from the early years of photography.
